Baking again tonight

Hello Everyone!

I just had a fun filled day at work with the kiddies. There was no water for a while so it made for an interesting day, plus we were suppose to be observed. Thank goodness it went well and I am home now.

I'm baking peanut butter cup cookies again tonight because a friend has requested them and I do not know how many times he will get to eat them before he is too far away. I sure hope he likes them and that turn out pretty. Some times they do not come out of the pan correctly and I'm not happy with the finished product.
If you want to make these at home it's very simple, find a peanut butter cookie recipe, scoop the batter into a cupcake pan and squish a peanut butter cup candy into the middle before baking. These cookies are fun and delicious. Plus they only take about 30 mins to whip up a whole batch.

I'm keeping it short for tonight, classes have started and I have a ton of homework.

Have a Great Night!

Making heart shapped brownies today!

Good morning !!!

So the rain has finally stopped and everyone, I mean EVERYONE, went out yesterday and it will probably be the same way today. I braved the outlet mall in Carlsbad with my mom and we got some great stuff at the various kitchen stores they have. One store still had Christmas cookie cutters, they were on sale for 75% off, making the cookie cutters only $.60. This was amazing because they were copper cookie cutters, which means they will last for years and years to come and will not rust like your typical tin cookie cutters. I also got a 13x9 baking pan with a lid and a complete set of measuring cups for $3. What a great buy!!! However the trip was to find Valentine's day sprinkles, cupcake liners and maybe a few other things to help jazz up the Valentine's treats but that mission was unsuccessful.

I also went to Sur La Table and they had some cute Valentine's items such as kitchen towels, plates, bowls etc for the house but not very many baking items. They also had some cute cupcake liners but if you buy them you take the chance of them not fitting right in the cupcake pan and the cupcakes possibly turning out lopsided. They store them in a basket and some of the packages become squashed. It may be that I'm just to picky and my baked goods and they way they look.

Great news is that I have discovered an awesome store. It is in the Kearny Mesa area located close to Walmart (it's one block up the street on the oppsite side). It's called Do It With Icing, it's a great cake and candy making store. All the walls are covered with different candy molds, so if you can't find the one there I don't believe you will find it in a store. Then the isles in the middle have all different cake/ cupcake toppers, all the different sprinkles you can possibly think of and they even sell different frostings you would not be able to find in a typical grocery store/ craft store. It was an amazing store and the prices were verry reasonable.

So back to my baking adventure for the day.
Heart shaped brownies... Basically it's just normal brownies in a pan then I'm going to cut them with different heart cookie cutters. I'm going to be making cream cheese brownies because those seem to be the most popular. I will be making a double batch but will still be pouring all the batter in a 13x9 pan so they can be extra thick. I'll bake them till they are about 85-90% done and they hold their shape. Let them cool slightly and cut them out with my cookie cutters (use lots of crisco on those cookie cutters so the brownies do not stick). Once all the hearts are cut out, I'll place them in the oven for about 10 mins and then they will be done. Let them cool and they can be served or frozen for another day.

Off to baking I go! Have a good one.

Valentine's mini cupcakes.

Hello everyone out there!

I woke up late today and I am still tired, must be this horrible San Diego weather LOL. Since it is Friday and the rain has everyone in a gloomy mood, I decided to make some mini cupcakes for my neighbors and the gals at work. The turned out super cute and I got more out of batch than I thought I would. I ended up with 68 mini cupcakes. Madness!! Some are going in the freezer, so I can give them to my friends this weekend.

They were so much fun to make. I made a batch of chocolate cake batter and used a tablespoon to scoop the batter into the cupcake liners. I sued some cute heart liners and some silver ones. The silver ones turned out more to my liking. I whipped up some vanilla frosting while the cupcakes were baking, and I died it whit neon pink coloring gel. I found out that the gel works much better than the liquid color. It holds true to it's color unlike the liquid that dilutes when mixed. When the cupcakes where done I let them cool for about 10 mins and put the frosting into a piping bag. I used a star tip ( any star tip will do, large or small), made little swirls in the middle of each cupcake, then topped off with different Valentine's sprinkles and even some chocolate hearts I had made the previous day.

I just got back from work and the cupcakes were a hit. Some of the gals thought I brought red velvet cupcakes like last time and they were a little disappointed to hear that they were just chocolate, but after tasting them, it was a different story.

Thank goodness it's Friday!

I braved the storm and went to buy baking supplies anyways,

Hello to anyone out there. ( I wonder who is actually reading this blog??)

So, it has been raining this whole week and it had been getting worse as the days go by. Other than going to work and seeing Cortney, I have not done much al week..Today I decided to brave the storm and go to the store, it was not bad when I first when out but then after spending nearly an hour at Michaels, it began to down pour, of course my umbrella was in the car!

Well with that said, I bought another brownie pop mold because it was on sale, it would have been a better deal if I could use the 50% off coupon they have me but the policy does not let you use it if the item is on sale already, POO on them! I also bought some fondant writting pens so I can decorate my pink chocolate hearts that I'm preparing for my Valentine's day brownie bites. I hope it works out, I have not truely mastered the art of wrting with frosting.Wish me luck.

If you want to make some brownie bites, its very easy!! You can even use box mix if you wish. All you do is take a mini cupcake pan, grease it, take your favorite brownie batter and fill up the little cups. When then are ready and cooled, pop them out and flip them over. Decorate the top (which is technically the bottom) with frosting (I'm using pink) and add sprinkles or top them with chocolate hearts, like I am.

That's all for now, I have to brave the storm and get to work.

Pictures and more to come tonight of the finished product :-)

Day 2- Still playing around with the layout of the blog and adding gagets

Good morning!

It's finally not raining this morning but it's suppose to be bad again tomo. Before I have to go in for work I will be stopping at the craft store to buy some lollipop sticks and a new brownie pop mold so I can make Valentine's Day brownie pops for the gals at work (I work with only girls, guess teaching young children is still a womans profession). Hopefully it will spark up some interest and they will order Valentine's Day treats for their men. :-) If you are wondering what a brownie pop is, it's simply a bell shaped brownie bite with a lollipop stick in it.You then add frosting and sprinkles, wrap it up in some clear cellophane, tie it up with a pretty pink bow and you have some delicious, adorable Valentine's treats. Yes it is a little early for Valentine's treats but, I say oh well, they are cute and will put the gals in a good mood at work. We can always use a pick me up, working with children for 9 hours a day is a little tiring!

Well that is all for now. If you have any questions about where to purchase any of the products or need a brownie and frosting recipe feel free to email me or leave a comment.

Have a wonderful hump day!

Day 1- just learning how this blog thing works

So, setting up this blog and making it look the way I want is more time consuming than I thought. However I'm having fun learning and creating as I go along. Of course this blog is still under construction and does not have much going for it right now but I hope to have followers soon and get my business name out there.

I also hoping to have a bake sale soon, if anyone has ideas where to set up, it would be greatly appreciated. We have already held a bake sale at Balboa Park and Sea Port Village and they were successful, so now it is time to venture to another destination. A portion of the proceeds will go to Share Our Strengths (helps end childhood hunger) so please come out and support us. I will post dates later. :-)
